- If you dream of being in a saddle, then you are controlling the
path to your destination. If someone is holding the saddle in front of
you, then this person might be controlling you. Falling off of a saddle
shows a lack of control.
Safari
- You may have the desire to experience a more "wild" side of life.
Perhaps your life has become boring and you need to "spice it up." Look
towards your most basic instincts to determine what your mind is telling you as
you dream of this safari.
Sailboat - Did you dream of sailing?
Were you working the boat well as the water and winds changed? Then you
are in control of your life as the tides come and go. Fear on the sailboat
shows you feel something large overpowering you. There is a lack of
control of something or someone in your life.
Salad
- A salad if light, refreshing
and healthy. You might be feeling the need for a more healthy lifestyle,
or your body might be telling you it needs healthier food. A salad
prepared from the land around you shows you are industrious and practical.
Salt - If used correctly, salt
brings a more pronounced flavor to your food. It enhances the dish when
not overused. Therefore, salt in your dream represents something you are
doing or "adding" to an activity to make it meaningful. It transforms the
mundane into something that has flavor or zest.
Sand - Sand can be unstable as we
walk on it. It might represent a shift in your thoughts as well as your
life. Were you walking in the sand? What to? Perhaps you feel
instability as you try to reach this goal. "The sands of time" is a common
phrase. The sand in your dream can indeed represent time.
Satchel - A satchel might indicate a
woman or womb. It can also represent whatever is carried within the
satchel. You might be holding your beliefs with you or the things you
treasure most in life.
Sausage - A sausage may represent
masculinity. Sausage is made from a farm raised animal and is often served in a
family breakfast. Eating sausage in your dream can indicate a feeling of
familiarity or down home remembrances.
Saw
- Cutting through an idea or
situation. Getting to the truth of the matter by cutting through the
difficulty, questions or unnecessary information.
Scale - A balance, whether even,
uneven or leaning toward one side. A representation of justice.
Scarf
- A scarf is ornamental and
"brings an outfit together". Perhaps you are feeling successful and
prepared in your waking hours. If you are chasing a scarf that is blowing
in the wind, you are looking for a final piece to a puzzle in your life.
There is something you need to have completed and you are searching for the
final piece. If you are wearing a scarf to cover yourself, you may be
trying to hide something from others.
School - Dreaming of school can be
stressful, confusing or oppositely - happy. If you are content in your
dream, you may be remembering happy childhood times or thoughts of school
friends. It can be the "easy life" when all you had to worry about was
school and friends. If your dream was stressful, you may be remembering
feelings of aloneness, separation from your mother or feelings of being "left
out." Some dream of having to take a test in school, knowing they are not
prepared. This means you feel unprepared for something in your waking
life. Is there a decision you need to make that you do not have enough
information about? Or are you getting ready for a new experience in your
life that you do not feel prepared for?
Sea - A rough sea means you are
feeling a life of upheaval. There is something "stirring" inside of you
that may be quite strong. If you are at the edge of the sea and cannot
cross, you might be at place in your life where something is stopping you from
moving forward. To sail on a steady sea means you are in control of your
life's journey and are well prepared to meet the unknown.
Scissors - Scissors are sharp and
dangerous. You might be feeling "cut" by someone or something. Are
the scissors threatening to you? Then look at what might be disturbing you
in your life. If you are cutting, you might be separating your mind from
someone or something.
Searchlight
- Do you see a
searchlight in the distance? There may be something your mind is trying to
tell you that you are not ready to see or face. If the searchlight is on
you, then you might feel you are "on the spot."
Seed
- A seed may represent your
children or your desire for children. It can also represent fertility.
A seed might also be a new idea you are conceiving.
Seven
- Life's cycle. The
week. Creation, depicted by seven days.
Sewing - Is someone sewing something
for you? Then they may be mending something in your life.
Alternately, you might be repairing or "mending" something in your own
life. Sewing requires creativity and uses several resources to create
something of great use. Your may be trying to piece together some ideas in
order to create something wonderful.
Shadow - You might feel something is
casting a "shadow" on your life. If things seem to be shadowed in your
dream, you are not seeing clearly in your waking life.
Shampoo - If you are shampooing your
hair, you are trying to wash something distasteful from your mind. You
feel the need to "clean up."
Soap - Just as shampoo, using soap
represents your need to "wash off" something unpleasant. Is there
something distasteful running through your mind that you would like to stop?
Or did you do something you regret, and are trying to wash your bad feeings
away?
Sheep - Sheep are often depicted as
animals that follow blindly. You might feel you are following life's path
blindly, or that you are simply going through the motions.
Shell
- A shell might appear dull on
the outside but contain a pearl or exquisite colors on the interior. Is
someone near you like this, or are you like this yourself? A shell can
also represent protection.
Shirt
- A shirt represents your
image to others.
Shopping - Have you been dreaming of
shopping? Were you obtaining wonderful, expensive items? Or objects
that make you happy? Shopping often represents our search for status or
luxury. We might also desire something that we don't have and are
searching for it. This is not necessarily an item, but perhaps something
as simple as happiness.
Shovel
- If you are digging with a
shovel, your mind is trying to uncover or reveal something to you. Is
there information you are trying to discover from someone? Or is there
something you have been trying to remember that you must "dig deep" for?
Singing - Singing represents joy and
an outpour of ones feelings.
Skating - If you are skating ackwardly, you might feel unstable or out of control in your life. Skating
well represents you are "skating through life" with ease and balance.
Skeleton
- There may be a "skeleton"
in your closet that is eating at your conscious. You might also have a
fear of sickness or death. A skeleton is "bare bones," possibly meaning
you are feeling stripped away of your feelings.
Smoke - Smoke might mean you are
sensing danger. Smoke is also a sign of fire, displaying passion or
burning feelings. Remember, smoke comes from a smoldering fire too.

Snail
- For some, a snail is ugly and
possibly repulsive. Have you seen someone or something recently that
repulsed you? That seemed "slimy" and unpleasant? Then your mind is
remembering this feeling and might be trying to tell you something about this
person or situation. Snails are also hard on the outside, yet unpleasant
on the inside. Do you feel you are showing others a hard shell, but are
actually hiding feelings from them that range from sad to sickening? This
could be a sign that you need help either emotionally for physically.
Perhaps your "dream snail" represents someone else with this same problem.
Snake
- A snake might represent your
thoughts of evil. It is also our most basic instincts and drives. In
the Garden of Eden, a snake brought about temptation.
Snow - If the snow is pristine and
beautiful, it can represent purity, quiet and peace. A blizzard tells us
we have emotions swirling about in our head and need to find a source of release
when awake.
Soap - Are you "washing your hands"
of someone or something? Dreaming of soap also means a clean beginning or
a fresh start.
Soup - Soup is a healthy meal made
through the creativity of the cook. It might mean you are dreaming of your
childhood and mother. Soup can also represent your ability to put things
together to make something good and hearty. If you spill soup, you may be
feeling nervous about an upcoming event.
Space - If you dream you are lost in
space, you are feeling out of touch or lost while awake. Space is vast and
mostly unknown to us. If we are gazing into space, we might be
contemplating something that is beyond our reach or is considered unknown to us.
Spear - A spear is typically a male
symbol, and can represent the power to provide or defend. A spear will
"cut through" things as well, so you may be trying to "cut through" something
that is insignificant to find the real matter.
Spider - If you dream of a spider,
you may feel threatened by someone who is trying to "catch you in his/her web."
A spider in a web can also symbolize your place in life or in your family - in
other words, the web you are weaving in your life.
Splinter - You might have something
physically bothering you that is causing you mild but noticeable pain. A
splinter in your dream also represents anything that is irritating you, whether
physically or emotionally.
Stabbing
- If you are stabbed,
someone has "cut" into you and hurt you. You feel slashed by someone's
words or actions. If you are stabbing someone, then you may be trying to
cut through them to reach who they really are. It can also mean you are
holding anger towards that person and need to find a way to release those
unhealthy feelings.
Stairs
- Dreams of climbing stairs show you
are moving upwards in life. You are ready to move beyond your current
situation and to face the future. If you are climbing down stairs, you may
have unresolved fears or be feeling your current situation is bringing you down.
Star - A star often represents hopes
and wishes. It is also a representation of something vast that is possibly
beyond our reach but is an object of awe.
Starving - If you are starving in
your dream, you need either emotional or physical nourishment in your waking
life. If someone else is starving, you might recognize this same thing in
them. If you are offering food to someone starving, you wish to help them
either physically or emotionally.
Steam - You might need to release
emotions that are trapped inside of you. There is pressure either inside
you or pushing on you from the outside.
Stick
- If you are using the stick
to defend yourself, you should look at who is causing you to feel threatened
while awake. Holding a stick can also represent feelings of power.
If you are carrying a walking stick, then you feel support from others.
Tripping over a walking stick indicates you feel a friend who normally supports
you is not there to help.
Sting
- A sting is just that - you
have felt stung by someone recently. You are feeling or have felt a sharp
and unexpected pain. A sting might also show an unexpected yet slightly
stinging surprise in your life.
Storm
- You may be in the middle of
a "storm" in your life. You could be harboring many confusing, hurt or
angry emotions inside.
Strangled
- If you are strangling
someone, you are trying to keep them from expressing emotions or unpleasant
truths. If you are strangled, you feel someone is trying to stop you from
expressing particular ideas or emotions. Being strangled might also
indicate you feel "strangled" in your life and need to find a way of release.
String
- You are trying to keep
something that might get away. A string can secure things. Is there
something you wish to keep near or secure?
Stuck
- You are unable to move
forward or go back in your life. There is something holding you
back.
Submarine
- A submarine might
represent the unknown smothering you or engulfing you. Do you feel
pressure around you? If the dream is not fearful, you might be exploring
deep feelings or ideas in your subconscious.
Subway - Dreaming of a subway is
often your mind taking a journey into the subconscious. A subway runs
underground, as do many emotions or repressions. Where was your mind
wandering to? Have you repressed a memory or feeling that your

- Someone or something
is "suffocating" you. There is something that is smothering you, whether
it is a person, emotion or situation. Perhaps your job, current

- Sugar is an indulgent treat
that your mind is allowing you to have. Perhaps you are not giving
yourself enough indulgences while awake. Are you too strict with yourself?
Sometimes a special treat is good for the soul - so indulge!
Suitcase - Your suitcase might be
representing the feelings and emotions you carry inside. It can also mean
you are keeping a secret from someone.
Sun
- The sun represents energy.
It is warm, comforting and brings health and happiness. Dreaming of the
sun is a sign of vitality, power, happiness or good fortune.
Sunflower - A sunflower symbolizes
warmth. It can represent longevity and perseverance as well.
Sunglasses - If you are wearing
sunglasses, you may be trying to "fly under the radar" in your life. You
may be trying to hide from someone, or you may be choosing to look away from
something that you do not want to face.
Surfing - If you surf, you must use
the power of your body married with a perfect balance to rise above the churning

your own persona will.
Swing - There are several variations
on the swing dream. You might be swinging back and forth between a
situation or decision. Or your mind may be going back to pleasant memories
of childhood. A child is able to swing freely without the constant
pressures of adult life. You might also be feeling a great sense of
freedom as an adult.
Sword - A sword represents power.
Were you carrying it, and therefore carrying the power? Or was someone
else holding the sword and holding power over you?
Syringe - A syringe is used for
injections. Is someone injecting you with emotions, ideas or motivation?
Or was the syringe threatening, as if someone is trying to inject you with
something distasteful or frightening?
