Rabbit
- A rabbit is gentle, shy and timid. Are you caring for the
rabbit? You may feel the need to protect someone, or feel the need to be
protected yourself. A rabbit also symbolizes fertility for some.
Raccoon - A raccoon may indicate a
thief or scavenger. It is also something that prowls quietly during the
night. Do you feel someone is prowling near you that may cause you harm or
take something from you?
Race
- Look at who is before you and
who is behind you. This indicates where you see yourself in comparison
with others. A race is a competition. Do you feel the need to
compete with someone or to beat someone? Are others ahead of you while you
are lagging behind? Perhaps you are feeling behind in your life, job or
school.
Rat

You may be dreaming of sickness, fear or infestation. However,
domesticated rats are intelligent and friendly. If you have experience
with domesticated rats, you may be dreaming of quite the opposite, specifically
of intelligence and resourcefulness.
Radar - A radar is able to "sense"
things around it that are not visible to the eye. Is your "radar up" while
awake? Do you have a need to find something that is not clearly in front
of you?
Radio
- If a radio is playing, think about what sounds came out of it. Was it
happy or pleasing music? Then you are feeling happy with those around you.
If someone was talking on the radio, then it may be giving you a message from
your subconscious. If you were talking on the radio, then you are trying
to communicate something to others near you.

Radish - A radish is stems from the
ground and carries a spice when bitten in to. Some find the spice
pleasing, others not. If you enjoy radishes, you are taking advantage of
the "spice of life." If it is too hot for you, there may be something in
your life that is overpowering or shocking you.
Raft - You might be feeling lost and
out of control. A raft tends to float with no direction. Do you feel
a lack of direction in your life?
Rag
- Do you feel ragged or are you
having financial troubles? Are you trying to wipe something that seems
impossible to clean? A rag can represent poverty or may mean you feel the
need to "clean up your life."
Railway - A railroad track stretches
beyond our vision, and is associated with a journey. You may be dreaming
of your life's journey. If you are content to ride on the railroad, you
are solid in your belief of self and how you are living your life. If you
are trying to get off of a train, you feel out of control on your life's current
path or you may be afraid of aging.
Rain - When you dream of rain you
should take a step back and look at how you were feeling before sleeping.
If you are sad, rain in your dream is a typical continuation of that waking
feeling. Yet rain is also healing and life-giving. When there is a
drought, rain is a joyous event, brining life and re-growth.
Rainbow - A rainbow
is a sign of life after difficulty. It is a natural wonder that is not
seen often. Some believe a rainbow represents wealth, as there is a "pot
of gold" at the end of the rainbow. A rainbow can also show you have
dreams you are striving to reach in the distance.
Rake - A rake is a tool you can use
to rid your garden of weeds, making it open for new growth. Are you trying
to rid your life of "weeds?" Maybe you are nearing a time in your life
when you are creating a "clean slate." You might be cleaning house in
order to grow personally or professionally.
Ramp - A ramp may be something that
elevates you to a higher awareness. It is also used to make things easier
for those who are unable to use the stairs. Do you feel you are unable to
reach a particular height without stairs? Or perhaps something is
supporting you and helping you to reach the top.
Reading - If you are
reading in your dream, you may be digging for information in your memory banks
that you need in your waking life. Or perhaps you are seeking knowledge
and education. Was the book near you or out of reach? If you are
trying to reach the book, you are on a search for knowledge.
Record
- A record can be played over
and over, and often brings back memories of times when we first heard the music.
You may be happily remembering a past time in your life. Dreaming of a
record can also show you are trying to put something in to your memory that you
don't want to forget.
Reflection - Seeing your reflection
indicates how you see yourself in your life. If the reflection is
pleasing, you are happy with who you are in life. If it is not pleasing,
you may need to take a "look" at who you are and find ways to change that
reflection for the better.
Refrigerator - A refrigerator cools
things down. Do you need to "cool down" a relationship or perhaps even a
temper? Is there something in your life that you need to "put on ice."
Reptiles - A reptile stems from the
most basic revolutionary process. It is the base of our human functions.
It is the need to eat, sleep, drink, breathe and survive.
Rescue - Are you being rescued in
your dream? Then you might actually need to be "rescued" in your waking
life. Perhaps you are in a situation that is not healthy for you.
You might also be feeling gratitude for someone who has already rescued you.
If you are rescuing someone else, then you probably feel they need help with a
matter they are currently dealing with.
Rifle - You may be feeling defensive
about something in your life. Perhaps you feel the need to defend yourself
against someone or something. A rifle can indicate feelings of aggression
and may also represent the male species. Rifles can also indicate feelings
of strength and invincibility.
Riptide - If you dream of a riptide,
you may feel pulled away by something forceful and out of your control.
River - Is the river
flowing quickly, easily or frightfully? A river is the flow of life.
A rough river shows you are feeling overwhelmed with emotions. A calm
river indicates a sense of calmness in life. A river can be flowing
quickly yet steadily and without a sense of fear, showing your life is fast
paced yet you are in control.
Road - A road is similar to the
directions we take in our life. Are you at a fork in the road? Then
you are trying to make a decision of which path to take in life. Taking a
steady and uneventful trip on a road shows you feel that way about your life
while awake. If you are in a car that is out of control, you probably feel
out of control of your own life's path.
Robot - A robot is mechanical and
"non-thinking." Do you feel you are just "going through the motions" in
your life? Or is a robot chasing you? This may be your fear of
someone taking control of you, or might also be your fear of the future.
Rock - You may have heard the
expression, "you are my rock." A rock indicates stability. The rock
is solid and unmoving. If you are trying to carry or move a rock that is
unyielding, perhaps you feel someone or something is in your way. A rock
can also represent your religion, giving you stability and a centered feeling.
Rocket - A rocket represents male
energy.
Rocking Chair
- A rocking chair reminds us of our childhood as our mother rocks
us to sleep. It is comforting and brings a familiar repetition. It
can also represent feelings of your grandmother or other matronly figures that
have been in your life. If you are rocking a baby, it might simply mean
you are exploring the possibility of parenthood. A rocking chair that is
empty yet moving might show you are missing someone in your life who brought you
comfort.
Roof
- A roof offers protection. It is how we "cope" with situations to protect
ourselves.
Rollercoaster - Look
at how you feel in your life. Are you on a frightening rollercoaster?
Do you feel out of control as something carries you forward? Or perhaps
the rollercoaster indicates joy and freedom. Think if how you felt while
dreaming of the coaster. If you were at the top and ready for a large
drop, you may be on the brink of something new in your life that you are
frightened about.
Rope - Are you tying someone or
something up with a rope? You may be attempting to hold back an individual
or feelings about someone or something. If you are tied by the rope, then
you feel "tied down" and are unable to release yourself. What is binding
you in your life?
Rot - What is "rotting" in your
life? Do you feel stagnant? Or is there someone who seems filled
with "rot" in your life that you need to leave?
Rowboat - A rowboat is a tool that
can take you over both troubled or calm waters. It requires work, but with
effort can be maneuvered in a way to help you reach your goal. Are you in
the proverbial "rowboat without a paddle?" Then you may be feeling your
life is aimless and you do not have the tools to move forward. A rowboat
can also represent something that keeps you from falling into troubled waters.
If you are rowing someone, perhaps you are carrying them to a place you feel
they need to be in their lives.
Ruby
- A ruby symbolizes passion and
fire. It can be a passion for life or passion for someone you love.
Rug
- A rug can indicate how you feel
financially. Is you floor bare? Then you might feel your own life or
financial situation is bare. A floor covered in a rich, luxurious rug
shows you feel your life is rich, whether financially or otherwise.
Rugby - Rugby is a violent game in
which you can be hurt. Perhaps you were feeling aggressive and competitive
before sleeping? Do you feel the need to defend yourself or beat someone
in a particular "game" of life?
Rust
- Broken down with age. Exposed to the elements. Unused and
therefore broken down.
